Django Software Foundation Resources

Everything we pointed at during the DSF Membership Open Space at DjangoCon US 2026, on Wednesday, August 26th, 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm in the Wolf Point Ballroom (schedule). If you could not make it, nothing here needs a login and you can still reach us at the bottom of the page. The announcement post has the details.

The Foundation, the Board, and the Fellows are one structure: the members elect the Board, the Board raises and spends the money, and most of that money pays the Fellows. The Steering Council is separate, and handles technical direction rather than the Foundation’s operations.

The Steering Council

DEP 0019: Technical Governance for Django

Merges the old DEP 10 and DEP 12 into one governance document for the five-member Steering Council, and is pending DSF Board approval.

DEP 0020: Annual Release Cycle

Moves Django from its eight-month cycle to one feature release a year starting with 2028.0 in January 2028, with every release getting the same three-year support window.
