Django at OSCON

Jacob and Adrian will be at OSCON next week. We've got a few cool things planned:

  • Jacob will be giving a Django tutorial on Monday. Watch this blog for a link to the slides and handouts after OSCON.
  • Wednesday afternoon is the main Django session. We'll talk about the history of Django, its core philosphies, and some of the cool features you probably already know all about.
  • That evening at 7:30 is the Django meet-n-greet. We'll hang out, discuss horror stories, and give away free Django swag (don't miss it!).

If you'll be at OSCON, come say hi!

Jacob and Adrian,

I was excitedly looking forward to taking in the DJANGO tracks at this year's OSCON, but just learned that work-related priorities will prevent me attending.

Hope very much that, in addition to your slides, you'll also post audio and video recordings of your presentations, so those unfortunates unable to make it to Portland will be able listen to and view the latest DJANGO news and tutorials.

Regards,

Tom

As above.. from Australia and no chance to get there. It would be great to see another Google video though.

... more like I'm a poor programmer and don't have $1000 to attend...

Stupid Portland, thinks it's better than Philadelphia.

From Jacobs tutorial notes:
"Using some of Django's sub-frameworks including the RSS, internationalization, and schema migration frameworks"

Schema migration framework? Is this in the trunk now?

Ha -- I don't know how that crept in there (I certainly don't recall writing it...)

No, it's not on trunk yet (but it is a Summer of Code project, so hopefully we'll have it soon enough).

There's also another Django-related talk: the "State of Django" lightning talk I'm doing, as part of the various "State Of" lightning talks session.

Sorry, I'll be on vacation while OSCON goes on, but it'd be good to get you guys over to the UK some time ...

I hope you have a video version of the Monday tutorial somewhere. 8:30 is ungodly early, especially if someone (me, in this case) stays at the Jupiter and there's a bar and club downstairs that's open until 4am. I'll be around for Schwag, though :)

Mike: Exactly. Some of us are self-employed and don't have that kind of cash to throw around...
