DjangoCon US Call for Tutorial Proposals

June 6, 2011

The DjangoCon US team is looking at running half-day tutorials for the first time this year. We are therefore seeking proposals from well-qualified speakers who would like to present tutorials on Monday, September 5. This year we anticipate running at most four tutorials, though that number may be exceeded if sufficient popular proposals are received. There is no restriction on the topics that can be offered. Tutorial presenters will receive a fee proportional to the size of their registered audience.

Selection will be by popularity: places at a maximum of ten tutorials selected by the organizers will be offered for sale, and those attracting most sales will run. Anyone who has subscribed to a non-running tutorial will be offered a free transfer into the tutorial of their choice (subject to availability) or a refund of their tutorial fees.

Since the conference web site has not yet been deployed please send your proposals to steve@holdenweb.com. We would also be happy to receive suggestions from non-authors about the topics people would like to see offered.

Please note that this is not the call for proposals for talks. The call for proposals for talks will be made in the coming days when the DjangoCon US 2011 website is launched.

DjangoCon EU 2011 sprints

June 5, 2011

You are hereby invited to join the upcoming Django Sprints which take place next Thursday and Friday, June 9th and 10th. This will be an excellent opportunity to add code, to add documentation and to fix bugs.

As a part of DjangoCon EU, over a hundred people are expected to participate at a central location (De Waag) in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In addition, people from Sao Paolo, Brazil will join our effort. If you can't make it to one of these locations, you are invited to participate from wherever you are. Core developers will be available on freenode IRC: #django-sprint in order to review tickets and to assist you in the process.

Sprinting will start on Thursday 9th at 9:00 GMT and last till Friday night June 10th. At our Dutch location, we have field beds ready to make sure that sprinting will go on all night.

Hope to see you there!
